Because I can only hold my breath for a few seconds, the time that I am underwater is very limited. The urge to be in a landscape that is difficult for humans to reach is something that fascinates me. I made a submarine to make it easier to enter this world and to explore.

I made the Raft to use to create new works of art. It's a tool. I started drawing what I saw through the glass bottom.
I had the plan to enlist the Raft to the art academy's loan service. So that people could use the object for their own investigations and so the Raft can be part of generating new work.
Since I was using the submarine as a tool, it seemed logical to present the submarine film in my studio. Where it is completely packed with different tools that I use every day. I encapsulated the studio for the presentation.

I have tried to bring back the feeling of a memory. A memory stuck in my mind. For me, this memory was about the adventure I experienced with my submarine. The idea is that while wandering over the drawing, while the drawing slowly passes in front of you, you follow your own routes through which you can make new adventures from old adventures.

This work is located in a municipal forest near Utrecht. My idea was to make a work that would be set in motion by the force of the wind. The sail dances in the wind and makes a heavy dull sound as it sways.

At first I had the idea to make a construction rotate around the axis of the tree. As you see here. This is because I wanted to make a work in collaboration with nature and not with nature as a backdrop. Unfortunately I have not yet succeeded in making this windmill run on an enlarged scale.

The leaves of the Nasturtiums that I used in the installation are water repellent. I've used these fascinating leaves to make little fountains where the droplet jumps from leaf to leaf with the ultimate goal of a perfect route.

The wave between the two glass plates resembles a pendulum that you sometimes find in old clocks, which can be cranked from one side to the other. Rhythm and controlled repetition of the wave is the task of the performers. In the work the performers are the players of the wave. They provide the slow energy increase and weakening of the performence. The wave will have to follow their movement.
I have made this projection work before. After which I came to the work above.

Together with a friend of mine we started a punk band called SchijtBek. We make music by, for example, connecting an amplifier to Ikea cabinets with a speaker and then demolishing them to the rhythm of the music.
I recorded the sound of a thermos hissing. This happens when the pressure in the thermos builds up and the steam escapes. It sounds like the thermos is trying to say something, and I think it's doing it in morse code. I revealed the morse code and these are now the lyrics to the song Canned.

You look out over an urban landscape, made up of found collected objects in which all kinds of stories take place on a small scale. The cycle of the falling rocks plays the main role in this narrative. The fastest way from a to b for a falling lava rock is in a straight line, the 'perfect' route. But he cannot take it; It has crumbled over time and is therefore not perfectly round. We want to try to have each individual stone repeat its different route so that eventually all kinds of new routes are created that are perfectly adjusted to each individual stone. So this is a quest for perfection in imperfection, against better judgment.

If you look into the car, you will see a whole network that time and again tries to guide the drop of water together in specific paths. The sculpture is about the distorted world in relation to reality, destructivism, makeabiltity and distortion of nature and the moment of failure.
A junkyard is a fascinating place. How all those car wrecks are arranged side by side and how each car carries a history of dents, scratches and defects. The car is like a diorama. But also an empty shell that needs to be filled in.
